Post-Apocylpyptic Bioinspired Computing Retreat in Snowdonia in November 2013. Applications Welcome ! Free accommodation and food.

Thanks to the TRUCE project (especially thanks to Martyn Amos for inviting me to work on this) I'm organising a bioinspired computing retreat in Snowdonia in November 2013, in a lovely large house. Its residential, accommodation, food, 3D printer, materials are all paid for. All we have to do is drive there is a couple of vans and form three groups to write three papers on a topic in Bioinspired computing.

I'm just brainstorming here on the beautiful projects we could do.

Week Long Bio-inspired Computing Project Ideas

1. Analysis of the sound and motion of a tree, inspired by this project  reminds me of a fractal sound version of Jackson Pollock. We sensor up a tree, and measure it from multiple points. Use of a 4D high resolution scanner might also be possible. Not sure how understand the detailed motion of a tree would be helpful however :)

2. Somehow the landscape around the area should be used. The event should be properly bio-inspired. Literally. So we should have a naturalist with us, to tell us about the surroundings, the adaptations we can see in the winter in North Wales :)

Quick wikipedia search of bio-inspired computing gives this. Wow, ok, this is becoming quite post-apocalyptic already. We need to choose 12 survivors, on a bio-inspired self-sufficient commune (for a week). The whole of academia has been wiped out. Only 12 scientists remain in a desolate farm house in North Wales.
An 'expert' in genetic algorithms, urrrr, me? We also need a deep thinker from evolutionary biology. I think we've got to have someone who understands evolution deeply. Too cold for Eors.

What about Khalid to work on the evolvable antennas project?
